07-02-06: BPI -
Building Performance Institute Inc.
Headquartered in the Saratoga
Technology + Energy Park (STEP) in Malta, New York, BPI is now
supported by organizations around the globe. BPI was originally
conceived in 1993 by a group of building tradesman, product
manufacturers, and a number of public program professionals whose
vision was to create a resource for independent, third-party
verification of worker skills in the weatherization industry and
building trades. In 1996, the first certifications were issued for
weatherization auditors and installation personnel. Since that time,
BPI has expanded its capabilities to serve not only the
weatherization industry, but also the growing building performance
contracting industry from both a residential and multifamily
buildings perspective.

Home Performance with ENERGY STAR : ENERGY STAR
A drafty
home, rooms that are too hot or too cold, and high energy bills are all
common issues for homeowners. Installing a new heating or air conditioning
system, buying replacement windows, or adding more insulation may fix part
of the problem. But the way to better results is through an integrated
"whole-house" approach that looks at your house as a system.
Home Performance with ENERGY STAR, a national program from the U.S. EPA
and U.S. DOE, offers a comprehensive, whole-house approach to improving
energy efficiency and comfort at home, while helping to protect the
environment.

07-3-2: Freecycle™:
Changing the World One Gift at a Time
The Freecycle
Network™ is made up of many individual groups across the globe. It's a
grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (&
getting) stuff for free in their own towns. Each local group is moderated by
a local volunteer (them's good people). Membership is free. To sign up, find
your community by clicking on the region on the left. You may then go
directly to your local group by clicking on "Go To" or you may immediately
joining by clicking on "Join." It will generate an automatic e-mail which,
when sent, will sign you up for the local group and send you a response with
instructions on how it works. Can't find a group near you? You might want to
consider starting one (click on "Start a Group" for instructions). Have fun!

07-3-2: Energyworks L.L.C.
- Renewable and Efficient Energy Systems
As fossil fuel
supplies dwindle and the health of our environment becomes a growing
concern, more Mainers will be looking towards alternatives to meet their
energy needs. Some will look to the sun, some will look to forests, and
others will use cleaner burning fossil fuels as efficiently as possible.
These trends will eventually force conventional trades people to learn about
alternatives like on-demand water heaters, grid-tied solar electricity,
solar hot water, wood boilers, and wall-hung gas boilers. These technologies
require knowledge and experience to properly install and service.
Energyworks already has 10 years of experience learning the nuances of
environmentally sensitive technology.
Our approach is that of a full service company offering design, sales,
installation and service. We don’t just sell equipment. We have a trained
staff of licensed and insured technicians who are experts in their fields.
