Draft of options for Town Hearing on Jan 4, 2007

 Options Simplified on School Withdrawal Matter

 1.                  If termination petition passes, statutory withdrawal process ends.

 2.                  If termination petition fails, presumably a New Withdrawal Committee will be appointed that has independent statutory authority to negotiate withdrawal agreement—Funding required for possible legal and consulting services as well as mediation; Commissioner has given 60 days extension from date of the vote for a withdrawal agreement to be submitted.

 3.                  Ad Hoc Work Group (Task Force, non-statutory, appointed by Selectmen)—No funding required. 

 4.                  Independent Education Consultant Hired by Selectmen to perform study and analysis of withdrawal —Funding required.
